What pair shares a commitment to awesome patient care and has first names with a shared rhyming sound, too? That would be February 2015 Traveler of the Month, Kevin L., and our Rising Star winner, Evelyn K.
Congrats “Kev” and “Ev”!
Traveler of the Month Kevin is an RN working primarily in the Operating Room. He’s been an RN for 29 years, a Travel Nurse for the past 10 years, and works with Career Consultant Stephanie B. Kevin is also a veteran, having retired from the U.S. Navy in 2000.
Kevin typically takes assignments in the Southeastern United States, but he is currently working in Northern California. He travels with his wife, Maria, who is an RN working in ICU/PACU/ER.
“Clermont, Florida was our best assignment because it had good people, was a good location, and there was lots to do,” says Kevin.
Kevin says that what he and Maria like most about Travel Nursing is “the freedom to come and go as we like, take time off when we want and travel.”
Kevin’s advice to others is to research future assignments online and to ask yourself, “What do you want to accomplish while on assignment?”
Whether your goals are professional development, recreation, sightseeing, etc., Kevin says going in with a clear vision of what you want out of an assignment is helpful.
“Keep an open mind, be positive, and listen more than you speak initially,” Kevin also advises.
Rising Star winner Evelyn is an OR RN with more than 15 years of experience.
“Evelyn is a very passionate nurse,” says her Career Consultant Drew H. “She was inspired to travel by her son, Mario, who was previously a top notch Traveler himself.”
In fact, Drew says Evelyn took her most recent assignment in the Dallas area to be close to her son.
Drew’s been working with Evelyn for nearly a year and says that their relationship has been an absolute pleasure due to Evelyn’s work ethic and unparalleled dedication to excellence.
“Every step of the way, from gathering paperwork, to providing excellent patient care in the hospital, Evelyn represented herself and Medical Solutions as an exemplary nurse, worthy of every perfect evaluation she received,” he says.
Drew adds that Evelyn has been an inspiration to him.
“Evelyn has a fantastic disposition but the true value she brings to everyone she works with, including myself, is her humble and inspiring commitment to diligence and desire to lead by example,” says Drew. “Moving forward, I’m personally thrilled about the prospect of helping Evelyn write the next chapter in her ever-growing success story. Any hospital would be lucky, as I am, to have Evelyn join their team, and I feel blessed to know someone like her. “
Thank you, Kevin and Evelyn, for your commitment to excellent patient care!
