Congrats to August 2018’s Traveler of the Month and Rising Star!

Brittney Travel Nurse

Congrats to August Traveler of the Month Brittney — not just for winning this honor, but also for getting engaged to her Travel Nurse fiancé, Agustin, on her last assignment!

Many thanks and congrats to the August 2018 Traveler of the Month, Brittney C., and also our Rising Star winner, John T.!

Traveler of the Month Brittney is a cardiac stepdown RN, who is currently on assignment in Henderson, Nevada. She’s been in nursing for two-and-a-half years, traveling for one year, and works with Career Consultant Melissa Hirschauer.

Brittney travels with her fiancé, Agustin, who also is a Travel Nurse, specializing in ICU.

Brittney Travel Nurse Dogs

Zazu and Balou love to voyage with their Traveler parents, Brittney and Agustin!

“We have two dogs named Zazu and Balou who also travel with us everywhere we go,” she says.

While Brittney says that Long Island, New York has been her favorite location so far due to the beauty of the area in summer, Agustin helped make it extra special and memorable.

“He proposed in Montauk, right on the eastern tip of Long Island over the ocean — so that place will always be very special to us,” she says.

Brittney says her favorite thing about Travel Nursing is getting to travel the country and meet new people.

“You always end up learning a lot of different things in each specific hospital you’re at, so that’s very cool, too,” she adds.

Brittney kindly shared some advice for folks just starting out as Travel Nurses.

“Be open-minded when starting a new assignment because there are many ways to do different things,” she says. “Take the opportunity to always adventure out in the specific location you are in — that’s what we enjoy the most.”

Thanks for all of your hard work, as well as for sharing your story and advice, Brittney!

Rising Star John is an ICU RN who’s been in nursing since January 2017 and traveling since June 2018. He’s currently taking some time off between assignments, but wisely already has his next assignment in the North Bay area of California all lined up! John works with Career Consultant Evan Clapper.

John and Corey Travel Nurse

Congrats to the August Rising Star, John, pictured here with his wife, Corey.

John enjoyed his first assignment in Milwaukee, Wisconsin but says he’s sure he’s also going to love California — where he’ll be joined by his wife, Corey, and dogs, Bella, Sadie, and Peridot. In addition to being an all-star RN, John plays the drums.

“Finding a place that won’t get annoyed with a little banging around is always a good — and sometimes difficult — thing to do,” he says. “Maybe a traveling RN band is in the future!”

What a fabulous idea, John! When it comes to his favorite thing about Travel Nursing, John is a people person.

“I enjoy meeting new people and getting to work in different facilities,” he says. “There are so many interesting people out there. Get to know them!”

John also shared some great tips for new Travelers.

“Don’t be shy if you have questions. Speak up! You have a lot of knowledge from your experiences as nurse — use it wherever you are,” he says. “You’re representing yourself, but also other Travelers, so show off your skills! Get out and explore! Do things you don’t normally get to do. Enjoy your time in each place.”

Thank you for your hard work, for sharing your story, and for the great Travel Nursing advice, John!
